Birch Tree Trail
The Birch Tree Trail winds through Edmonton’s River Valley, giving people a chance to slow down and see nature up close, right in their own backyard. We worked with the Edmonton Nature Centres Foundation and the John Janzen Nature Centre (JJNC) to design eight new interpretive signs that help visitors to both the JJNC and the river valley to notice and connect with the forest in meaningful ways.
Each sign combines clear, engaging content with custom visuals and a shared story thread. We used unique shapes to add a sense of whimsy and playfulness, while still honouring the landscape and quiet beauty of the trail. The goal was to spark curiosity and invite everyone to look closer at the trees, plants, and wildlife that make the Edmonton River Valley a special place.
