Port Hardy Library & Museum Mural
From its rugged coastline and rich ecosystems to the complex community and histories, that shape the community, Port Hardy is a place made up of many interconnected parts. We worked with the District of Port Hardy and community partners to bring these diverse perspectives together into a vibrant 91x34 foot mural for the exterior of the Port Hardy Library and Museum.
Our bold, colourful graphic style and mosaic-like composition reflect the tapestry of perspectives and ecosystems that intertwine to define modern-day Port Hardy. Each element stands on its own while contributing to a larger whole, celebrating the many layers and connections that make the community unique.
Flowlines and organic shapes connect across the mural, quilting together these disparate elements and scenes, and weaving together Fenwood’s designs with artwork by our collaborator, Kwakwaka’wakw artist Johnny Henderson. The result is a cohesive and vibrant mural to brighten Port Hardy's downtown on its rainiest winter days and reflect a community-led vision of modern-day Port Hardy for its community and visitors.
